Order of Canada 100th Investiture
The first investiture of the Order of Canada took place at Rideau Hall in November 1967. Forty years later, on October 26, 2007, Her Excellency the Right Honourable Michaëlle Jean bestowed the honour on the newest recipients of the Order in the 100th investiture ceremony.
Over the years, more than 5,000 people have been invested into the Order of Canada. Often leaders in their respective fields of endeavour, their achievements have a beneficial influence on their communities, in Canada or outside the country. All recipients of the Order live by their motto: “They Desire a Better Country.” Their contributions, which are varied and many, serve as examples for Canadians.
